My Big Fat Desi Wedding

I remember planning my wedding as young as the age of 11, after having gone to several of my cousins’ weddings. There’s just something about seeing your older cousin who you look up to, all dolled up in the most beautiful red lehenga, with her henna fully drawn to her elbows, and her gold jewelry dangling from her forehead down to her collarbone.

As a Pakistani Muslim woman who has attended over 100 weddings, I have been enamored by weddings my whole life. And now it’s finally my turn! People always say that planning a wedding is stressful and overwhelming but you really don’t realize it until you’re the bride making all of these tough decisions, from picking the freshest florals, to henna artists, to the 5 different outfits you need for all of your main events… not to mention the smaller more intimate events that are being hosted for you by your close friends and family…and a thousand other things.

Selecting the right vendors is crucial to bringing your dream celebration to life. Wedding planners are costly and since I am the first in my close friend group to get married, I didn’t even know who to ask or where to start looking… until Lemon Juice Club came up on my Instagram Explore page. The timing couldn’t have been better. I was spending hours looking for vendors on google and on Instagram but once I came across Lemon Juice Club, it took minutes to find some that I really liked! Their colorful branding is what initially caught my attention… but once I clicked on their page, it’s like all my worries were gone. I no longer had to spend hours sorting through Instagram to find local vendors.

The biggest perk for me was the fact that there were reviews! I feel like so many independent service providers don’t really have reviews posted anywhere, since we’re usually hearing of them through word of mouth.

New York City has a plethora of wedding vendors and options to choose from, but it was nice to select some of these hidden gems that I never would have known existed if it weren’t for Lemon Juice Club.
